North Rim Site Update Pending

The old website at www.northrimestates.org has been down for some time. We are currently evaluating website management tools. Once we find something we like, we will begin to resurrect the site.

Once it is up, you will hear about it here.

Garage Door installation, repair and parts

We just had a new garage door installed, and I highly recommend the folks that did the work.

Cedar Park Overhead Doors - 335-7441

They showed up when they said they would. Removed the OLD ratty garage door (a custom built cedar wooden job, massively heavy and in lousy condition - totally worthless), and hauled it away. Then a very polite crew put in the new Amarr 18 x 7' door (they carry several brands), adjusted it - to my inexact standards perfectly - but when my contractor (RB Company) mentioned that it could be a little 'tighter', they came back out and readjusted it to suit his rather high standards - no push back, they just did the right thing.

I'm very happy with the door and the work they did. I will definitely call them again if we have any problems with the opener, which was the only thing we kept from the old setup.

Contractor - carpentry, remodeling, building

I know that it is hard to just pick someone out of the phone book when you are looking to get some work done on your house. You never know who/what is going to show up! Unless you get a recommendation from a friend, you are really at sea. This usually means that new folks to the neighborhood are really left scratching their heads.

Here is a recommendation for a contractor that is a true craftsman... He's done (major) work for me before - remodeled my kitchen, and he's here again, doing his usual perfect job replacing the (old moth-eaten) cedar siding on our home with hardi-plank.

RB Company 335-0309

The owner/operator is Rick Ballard. He generally works alone or with a helper. I have no reservations whatever in recommending him for anything from redoing siding to building an entire house (which he is capable of doing, and has done a few around Austin and even further out.) In fact, when we move from here to our final retirement destination, I am going to have him come (to wherever that is) and build our house - with me as his helper.

While he may not be inexpensive, you get what you pay for with Rick - high quality workmanship and fair and honest treatment.
